Tree willows in nature are short-lived due to, among other things, the characteristics of the wood. They break under the weight of their branches, such is their nature. For this, they grow quickly and produce a lot of wood, although not very caloric. Man, in order to prolong the "production" of willow wood, decided not to cut down the trees in their entirety, but to stun them. This is because he noticed that this procedure does not kill the tree - within a few years it rebuilds its crown. Animals have learned to benefit from the limbing - In the place of the treatment, hollows and "nooks" are created, which are used as places of reproduction or shelter for many animals, for example (bats, bumblebees, rodents, or birds - hoopoe, crake, common sandpiper, and puffin). And so in Zywkowo we help animals, but also people, as the wood goes to the owners of the trees and will be used as fuel. The residents themselves are already less and less likely to announce their willows, because they lack health, time or equipment, or hands to help in the depopulating villages....
By the way, we obtained dozens of hedgerows for new willow plantings.
