Why do we plant willow?
To recreate willow alleys full of microhabitats. For centuries, willow has been a source of fuel, because its branches grow at an incredible rate, and after just a few years there is something to cut down, and the willow does not give up, but sprouts new shoots again. And between the shoots, a mass of valuable microhabitats is created, where insects or fungi find their suitable conditions, and in the decaying hollows also birds. Willow gives shade, shelter and.... fits in with beautiful rural landscapes. So we decided to try to create a willow avenue in the buffer zone of the reserve "Kwiecewo" and on the border of the PTOP's plot near Olsztynek, where the habitat of the pond turtle is preserved. Willow hedges were obtained from willow alleys from Zywkowo.
